Mammal March Madness 2016

Mammal March Madness 2016

Mammal March Madness has begun! Can a Giant Mole Rat defeat the Giant Forest Hog? Will the Snow Leopard defeat the Siberian Chipmunk? Evolutionary biology will determine the fates of more than 60 species in the imaginary matchup set up to mimic the bracket style of college basketball tournaments. Matches begin on March 7th. Download a bracket here.

The annual event is co-organized by Katie Hinde, a professor in the School of Human Evolution & Social Change and a faculty member in the Center for Evolution & Medicine at Arizona State University. Other organizers are from Columbia, Dominican Universities, and the University of Southern California. The team hopes to make science accessible and fun for audiences of all ages, and the event’s successful past three years proves this is an achievable goal.

You can keep up with results on Twitter (#2016mmm) or on Hinde’s blog Mammals suck…milk!
